Galerie Tanit Beirut is excited to present Zad Moultaka at the Beiteddine Art Festival 2024 with two captivating projects:
Lahab
A visual installation at Al Midan Courtyard
Oro Terram
An exhibition at the Vaulted Gallery
Curated by Naila Kettaneh Kunigk
Lahab
This work was inspired by a chance encounter with a mysterious symbol engraved on a ruined stele in one of the gardens of the Beiteddine Palace. The symbol, resembling a marine shell or a sun with a central point, reflects the ancient belief that the radiance from the center is the seat of the invisible and the inexpressible. This “sun,” with its 120-meter-long golden carpet trail, sits majestically in the grand courtyard at the entrance of the palace, seemingly drawing celestial energies and immersing our bodies in a collective luminous purification.
Oro Terram
Praying to the Earth is a counterpoint to the exhibition “Oro Tenebris,” praying to the darkness at Galerie Tanit Beirut. Listening and imploring the darkness, the body stands erect between sky and earth. The night is the path leading to light, just as darkness is at the heart of the flame.
