OMT Beirut Marathon Marks a New Chapter for Lebanon

by LBTAdmin

After a period of challenges and change, the Beirut Marathon is making its much-anticipated comeback — and this year’s edition promises to be more powerful and unifying than ever. Set for Thursday 1 May 2025, the OMT Beirut Marathon will transform the Beirut Waterfront into a vibrant celebration of resilience, community and athletic excellence.

Under the slogan “Let’s Run from Finish to Start for a New Lebanon,” the event marks a symbolic restart — one that mirrors the country’s collective hope and determination to move forward, together.

A marathon like no other

Organized by the Beirut Marathon Association (BMA), this year’s race introduces a refreshed format, elevated logistics and an upgraded setup. The start and finish lines have been reimagined for a smoother, more inclusive experience, while the gathering area will be buzzing with activities and entertainment for all ages.

A lively food court, curated by some of Lebanon’s favorite F&B names, will offer the perfect post-run spot to refuel, relax and connect. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or a supporter cheering from the sidelines, there’s something for everyone.

Running with purpose

Beyond the physical challenge, the OMT Beirut Marathon continues to uphold its commitment to community support. Indeed, 30% of all 5KM Fun Run registration fees will go directly to 21 carefully selected NGOs, helping fuel impactful projects around the country.

Additionally, in compliance with updated Lebanese Athletics Federation regulations, an extra USD 3 will be added to each registration to support the federation’s initiatives.

A world-class lineup

Athletes from Kenya, Ethiopia and across the Arab world are expected to compete, underlining the event’s international reputation. Lebanon will also be represented by a strong local presence, as amateur and professional runners alike take on the challenge.

Adding a musical twist to the excitement, this year’s marathon will unveil the official BMA anthem, written by Jean Marie Riachi, composed by Nizar Francis and performed by Melhem Zein. Zein will also grace the stage on race day, performing some of his greatest hits live.

Cheering, sustainability and celebration

Along the course, 21 cheering stations will pump up the energy, while 13 hydration stations keep runners refreshed. Sustainability is also at the heart of this year’s marathon, with 13 green stations and 50 recycling bins ensuring environmentally responsible event practices — all in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The event will be broadcast live on LBCI, sharing the inspiring atmosphere with viewers across Lebanon and beyond.
