Lebanon’s Role in the Med Trails Network

by LBTAdmin

Lebanon’s breathtaking beauty and cultural richness take center stage on the Lebanon Mountain Trail, now a founding member of the Med Trails Network (MTN). This initiative connects hikers and eco-tourists to the Mediterranean’s most stunning trails, offering a unique blend of adventure, heritage and nature.

The MTN isn’t just about exploration; it empowers rural communities, preserves cultural traditions, and safeguards ecosystems. With partners like the Jordan Trail, Palestinian Heritage Trail and French associations AFRAT and Tétraktys, this network is weaving the Mediterranean’s hidden gems into a global story of connection and discovery.

Time to explore the Mediterranean

Lebanon is celebrated through its natural beauty and cultural richness and its long-distance trail, the Lebanon Mountain Trail (LMT). The LMT is in the spotlight on a whole new level. As a founding member of the Med Trails Network (MTN), the Lebanon Mountain Trail Association (LMTA) is part of a groundbreaking initiative that’s connecting hikers and eco-tourists to the heart of the Mediterranean like never before.

A bold vision for adventure and connection

The Med Trails Network isn’t just another hiking-related project: it’s a dynamic network. Designed to link the most awe-inspiring trails across the Mediterranean, it creates a hub where adventurers, nature lovers, local communities, trail organizations and tourism service providers come together.

Indeed, this network goes beyond exploring by supporting rural communities, preserving cultural heritage and protecting the ecosystems that make these landscapes unforgettable.

The roots of a movement

The Lebanon Mountain Trail, Jordan Trail and Palestinian Heritage Trail associations joined forces with AFRAT and Tétraktys to make this vision a reality. Today, MTN is a gateway to an even larger dream: connecting the Mediterranean’s hidden gems to a global audience.

A story in every step

Every trail in the MTN has a story to tell: France’s Grande Traversée des Alpes in 1970 to the Palestinian Heritage Trail in 2013; Jordan Trail’s ancient trade routes in 2015; and the cultural and natural heritage at the Lebanon Mountain Trail 2007. All these paths are steeped in breathtaking scenery. And it’s not just about the past; MTN is pushing boundaries for the future, with plans to expand, innovate, and make these trails accessible to all.
