As the world comes together to mark Earth Day 2025, Lebanon is once again proving that even in the face of adversity, the spirit of environmental stewardship remains strong. This year, a unique initiative invites locals and visitors alike to reconnect with nature through an inspiring eco-walk in the heart of Mount Lebanon. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Bqaatouta and Baskinta, this Earth Day event offers more than just a scenic stroll—it’s a celebration of innovation, resilience and hope for a greener tomorrow.
In celebration of Earth Day 2025, nature lovers and sustainability enthusiasts are invited to take part in an inspiring walk through Bqaatouta, with a unique stop at LifeHaus—a groundbreaking eco-house project nestled in the scenic village of Baskinta. Taking place on Monday 21 April, the event is organized by City Sightseeing Lebanon, Discovery Beyond Borders, NEOS, Show Me Lebanon and Tourleb, along with the support of several partners.
This year’s Earth Day theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” is a global call to action, encouraging communities around the world to unite behind renewable energy and reduce their carbon footprints. Lebanon, despite its many social, economic and political hurdles, is answering that call with resilience, creativity, and a strong commitment to environmental preservation.
The highlight of the walk is a visit to LifeHaus, a self-sufficient, low-cost, energy-neutral home designed by Nizar Haddad. Built using natural and upcycled materials, this eco-home is more than just an architectural marvel—it’s a symbol of hope. It proves that sustainable living is both attainable and necessary, even in regions facing complex challenges.
“By showcasing LifeHaus, we want to remind everyone that making a difference is not impossible,” say the organizers. “It starts with the choices we make, the habits we change, and the values we pass on.”
The walk also aims to raise awareness about the importance of protecting Lebanon’s natural resources and landscapes. From fighting pollution and littering to supporting the work of civil society groups dedicated to conservation, the event is a collective effort to inspire action and responsibility.
