DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT: ======================= Dear explorers, Today we will be heading to the Chouf region. We will start in Deir El-Qamar, one of the most beautiful villages in Lebanon. It is known to be the capital of the emirs in Mount Lebanon since the Ottoman era. A walking tour of the village will reveal several cultural sites such as our lady of the hill church, Fakherdine mosque, the emir Yousef Shehab palace (now hosting the town’s municipality), we’ll discover beautiful old houses surrounded by stunning nature. Our next destination will be directly supporting sustainable tourism, and that by visiting women local villagers who produce Mouneh and having the chance to buy their natural products. Lunch will be served in a traditional Lebanese restaurant. Then our stop will be the wonderful Beiteddine palace. It was built in the 19th century for Emir Bashir the second and combines Italian and ottoman styles. You will have a guided tour inside the several departments of this wonderful royal palace. Last but not least, Mir Amin palace will be our final destination to discover. It was also built by Emir Bashir the second for his son Prince Amin. It is now running as a hotel and a café on the fascinating palace’s terrace is an option before heading back home. End of the trip.
