Hiking Trip to Laqlouq- Balaa with Dale Corazon- Lebanon Explorers
| This time you will enjoy a hike with a special combination: Laqlouq- Balaa – Chatine, a trail of our ancestors, perfect weather conditions, and beautiful peaceful scenery. HIKE LOCATION : Laqlouq - Balaa / Batroun Districts/ In the north, ============ 1550 - 2100 meters above sea level, 69 km from Beirut. WHEN : Sunday, June13, 2021 ===== ENCOUNTER PLACE : Mar Maroun Church Parking, Dora @ 7:30 AM =============== Driving directions to Mar Maroun https://dalecorazon.com/contact/ FEES: ==== 50,000 LL/person including transport (comfortable air-conditioned Pullman), professional guides, 5 minutes warming up, stretching, and pictures. Children 18 years old and younger will have a discount of 20%. (40,000 LL per person) Optional transportation by your own vehicles 35,000 LL/person There is a 4.000LL Extra Entrance fee to Baatara Sinkhole. DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT: ======================== Laqlouq is one of the best winter resorts suited for cross-country skiing. Don’t miss the opportunity to contemplate the sky and the nature of the region from “Saydet El Qoren” hill located at 2150 m above sea level and you will definitely need a light jacket even if it may be hot in Beirut. A big cross stands there overlooking Batroun – Jbeil area. The trail will begin from Laqlouq and it’s downhill for about 13km. You will walk for a couple of hours to reach Balou3 Balaa then Chatine village. The Balaa Pit or Baatara gorge waterfall (also known as Balouaa Balaa) is very famous, it is one of the 10 most beautiful waterfalls in the world, and it is a triple natural bridge located in the tiny village of Balaa. HIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous The hiking will start near an old church and you will see Akoura Beautiful Lakes. Part of the trail will be along with the LMT. The hike will be divided into two levels: Level 4, is a downhill beautiful trail of just 7 KM. From the old church, youwill continue along a trail leading to Saydet El Dahab, then to the hill. You will also be able to see rare views particular to this altitude terrain. After crossing Laqlouq the scenery changes from this stage; you will continue in a trail and breathtaking views to be remembered forever. The track will take you to Baatara gorge waterfall. There is a snack where you will have lunch and you can also have your own picnic. You will walk down the stairs to see from up “The cave” also known as the "Cave of the Three Bridges", the three natural bridges rising one above the other. Level 6 (13Km) will continue from Balaa Pit downhill and head towards the riverbank, then uphill until you reach Chatine village at an old Church (Saidet el Atika) overlooking the area. (Level 4 will go by bus). Protect yourself and others around you by knowing the facts and taking appropriate precautions: Distancing from each other is a must. Cover your nose and mouth with your face masks. To keep it on, while we are on the bus. Clean your hands often by using hand gel or other. WHAT TO TAKE: ============ Healthy snacks that will boost up your energy such as dried fruits, lunch, water, MEDICAL FACE MASKS, HAND GEL, cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Wear comfortable walking shoes (Professional brand is recommended) and don't forget to get a light jacket.
