DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT: ======================= The name of ''Jabal El Sheikh'' is sacred that the Phoenicians gave to Mount Hermon, and it's called the "gray-haired mountain," or the "mountain of snow." This mountain has a great importance due to the historical Christian event that happened there; the transfiguration of Jesus Christ. Jabal El Sheikh is the highest peak of the Anti-Lebanon range, and the second highest peak in the Near East and in Lebanon located at an altitude of 2814 m above sea level. It deserves the effort we do to reach the top, because it offers a very unique scene in all directions. Syria, Cyprus, Palestine and Jordan can be easily viewed from there when the weather conditions allow it, and you will definitely need a light jacket even if it may be hot in Beirut. Standing on the foothills of “Jabal EL Cheikh” or “Hermon Mountain”, Rachaya el Wadi is distinguished for its old red-tile-roofed stone houses that have survived the most difficult and relevant phases of the Lebanese history. HIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous The hike (level 7) is tough, mostly uphill and then downhill for about 20 km long and starts at 1250 m elevation till 2250m. The path is exposed to sunlight and there are no trees to cover us so you surely need to use sun protection and wear hats. For all adventure lovers, we advise you to take this challenge! Those who prefer an easier hike (level 4), you have an alternative that will help you reduce 1/2 of the path; a lift in a pick-up. (Limited places) We will have lunch at the elevation 2250 meters. Get warm clothing because it will be really cold up there! In our return to Beirut, we might stop in Chtoura to drink fresh Juice. Protect yourself and others around you by knowing the facts and taking appropriate precautions: Distancing from each other is a must. Cover your nose and mouth with your face masks. To keep it on, while we are on the bus. Clean your hands often by using hand gel or other. WHAT TO TAKE: ============ Healthy snacks that will boost your energy include dried fruits, lunch, water, MEDICAL FACE MASKS, HAND GEL, cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Wear comfortable walking shoes (A professional brand is recommended) and don't forget to get a light jacket. DC members get a 20% discount on sports equipment in Sports 4 Ever branches. ==There will be a breakfast stop along the way== FOR RESERVATION AND INFO: ======================= Please Call 00961-70-986118 / 00961-70-997062 and send an SMS or WhatsApp to mention your name, surname, and the event you wish to join us on.
