Hasbaya hike (new trail)
Hasbaya is one of the most enchanting places to visit and our beautiful walk at the foot of the majestic Mount Hermon. Our day will include a visit to its historical medieval citadel and its old souk and monuments.
HIKE LOCATION : Hasbaya – Ebl El-Saqi / Hasbaya District ============= 800-650 meters above sea level, 105 km from Beirut. Children 18 years old and younger will have a discount of 10%. DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT: ====================== Join us for a special hike from Hasbaya to Ibel El-Saki village, that trail allows exploration of the historic areas surrounding both Hasbaiya and Marjaayoun. Hasbaya is one of the most important and oldest towns in the Mount Hermon area and offers a varied landscape it is considered one of the most enchanting places for hiking in the Hasbaya District, especially during this season. It is an important historical site, but little of its ancient monuments survive. The oldest standing ruins date to the Crusader period. The town’s centerpiece is a splendid citadel, which is part of the historic Chehabi compound that includes several medieval houses and a mosque. Hasbaya keeps its traditions alive and its workshops are still producing traditional clothing such as abayas, caftans and turbans. We may stop to buy some local traditional mouneh produced by the local community. The beautiful Hasbani River irrigates the vast olive groves around Hasbaiya. The flea market at the Souk El Khan is worth a visit and the “Hima” of Ibl el-Saqi pine forest. The views of Mount Hermon and the special architecture of the square in Marjaayoun are all highlights of this trail. HIKING LEVEL: 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous Our hike will be divided into two levels (4 and 5), and will be a moderate one: LEVEL 4 (8 Km approx. 3,00Hr.); Easy for families, our hike will start from the Hasbaya main square going up through the historic Hasbaya Souk to the oak forest of Hasbaya reserve passing through agricultural trails. We will then head down to the village of Abou Qamha where we are going to visit the old church of St Georges and his steps, then we continue through its plain valley to the Hasbani River passing through Jisr Al-Shakaa towards Souk El Khan. El Souk Open every Tuesday morning is worth a visit. Lunch break will be there. LEVEL 5 (12 Km approx. 4,00Hr.); will start walking the same trail as level 4. After lunch, we will head up through the Forest of Ibl El-Saki “Hima” to end at the main piazza of the Ibl El-Saki village at the Gandhi Garden where the UN army exists. Hasbaya – Ibel El Saqi hike is not just a hike with very beautiful nature, huge trees, and breathtaking views. It is a cultural tour as well. DO NOT MISS IT! Protect yourself and others around you by knowing the facts, and taking appropriate precautions: Distancing from each other is a must. Cover your nose and mouth with your face masks. To keep it on, while we are on the bus. Clean your hands often by using hand gel or other.
