Barouk Cedars to Ammiq Wetland with Dale Corazon – Lebanon Explorers
Al- Shouf Nature Reserve (the largest one in Lebanon, it constitutes 5.3% of Lebanese territory).
The reserve is the southern limit Cedrus Libani, it is an Important Bird Area (IBA) and Eco-tourism area (a Biosphere Reserve). Part of the reserve is the Aammiq wetland.
Ammiq is the biggest swamp in Lebanon (100 hectares) and one of the most important places for migrating birds. It has a watching tower to observe them.

There is a 20,000 LBP extra entrance fee to Barouk Cedar Forest and Aammiq Wetland for locals.
DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:

Our visit will begin from Barouk cedar forest; the birthplace of the Lebanese poet, Rachid Nakhleh (composer of Lebanon’s National Anthem). On the spot, the reserve team will be there to accommodate us and give a quick presentation.
Once in Ammiq, the hike is diversified. You get to walk along the edge of mountains where the scenery is great, beyond description.
HIKING LEVEL: 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous
Level 4 (10 km approx.) will take the bus to the entrance of Arz Barouq and start the hike between the cedars for approximately 3,30 hours to reach the old broken-down village of ancient Ammiq. Your trail is wonderful downhill and overlooks Bekaa valley. Our lunch will be in a beautiful place on the trail where the views are remarkable. You just have to be there to believe!
Then will make a quick visit by bus to the swamp of Aammiq.
Level 5 after reaching the village of ancient Aammiq, we will continue the trail to reach the swamp of Aammiq, pass through water sources, pine forest and finally meet level 4 hikers at Aammiq wetland. The total distance is around 15 km; will take short rest. We promise you spectacular views and great scenery.

Cover your nose and mouth with your face masks. To keep it on, while we are on the bus.
Clean your hands often by using hand gel or other.
