- Meeting point : Nahr el Mott, near Wooden Bakery - PLEASE BE ON TIME
- Two options for Transportation: in a comfortable air-conditioned bus or with your own cars.
- Activities : Hiking at Ammiq Wetland - 10 kms - Level 4
- Contribution: 250’000 LBP/person and 200’000 LBP/child of 12 years and below, covering program, guides and transportation, excluding food and drinks – Optional: 120’000 LBP/person for transportation with your own cars and 90’000 LBP/child of 12 years and below (Please bring the exact amount).
- To add 30’000 LBP/person entrance fee to Ammiq reserve & 15’000 LBP/child of 12 years and below

OVERVIEW
Join GREEN STEPS on Monday 25/04/22 to explore the outstanding beauty of Ammiq Wetland, hiking in its oak and pine forest, beneath Barouk natural reserve, crossing its beautiful wetlands and its green field valley.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Our main activities during this day are as follows:
- Our day will start with a short breakfast stop on our way to
- Hiking starting from the oak and pine forest of Ammiq, beneath Barouk natural reserve, reaching Tallit El Sa3louk from where we can admire a fantastic view of Ammiq wetlands and the colorful Bekaa valley. The trail will continue to Ammiq wetlands, hiking in the middle of the Wetlands; it is a fantastic one where you can admire lovely sceneries. You might have the chance to watch the wild birds crossing the area and the Buffalos swimming in the fresh water.
- For photography lovers, Ammiq is a very distinguished and beautiful area to catch beautiful photos.
- We’ll be having our lunch in the nature, at Skaff farm, so please bring your meal with you.
The trail is of level 4, easy for families and children
Total Circuit length: 10 Kms
Altitude: 1050 m – 870 m
Slope variation: 150 m
Effective hiking time: 3.5 hrs
The hike will be guided by an ecotourism specialist at a moderate rate.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
§ Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, you must PUT A MEDICAL FACE MASK IN THE BUS and when needed.
- Needs for the hike: hiking shoes, hiking stick, hand sanitizer, medical face mask, warm jacket, hat, backpack, WATER bottles of 2-liter min, sunglasses, sunscreen, camera, meal (dry fruits, energy bars, sandwich), ID card, insurance card, smiley face, and full energy.
- General knowledge contest and quiz related to the area with a prize for the participants
N.B.:
- Cancellations without prior notice of 24 hours require a payment of 50% of the full contribution
- A minimum of 20 persons is required for the trip to be feasible
- Hikers are advised to participate in the hike to their own responsibility
- Hikers are asked to follow hiking ethics provided by Green Steps
- Hikers are asked to follow Covid-19 preventive measures
- Smoking is not allowed during the hike
- In the case of force majeure, some modifications may occur to the program
INFORMATION ABOUT THE REGION
Ammiq village is located in West Bekaa, 57 kms away from Beirut capital.
Ammiq Wetlands is the largest remaining freshwater reserve in Lebanon. It is Lebanon’s most biodiversity rich site and the best place to see wild birds. Designated as a Ramsar site, an Important Bird Area and part of the UNESCO “Man & Biosphere” reserve of the Shouf mountain.
