As USAID’s Trade and Investment Facilitation (TIF) project is working to raise the profile of the district and improve its tourism offering we embark on a virtual journey to discover a selection of the best touristic sites in Jezzine.

 Jezzine waterfall

At 74 meters, the Jezzine waterfall is the highest in the Middle East. To witness its beauty, one can take the road near the Lady of Maabour statue. A short walk leads to the foot of the waterfall. Nearby, a cave once sheltered Lebanese Emir Fakhreddine II until Ottoman forces forced him out, eventually leading to his capture and execution. For a great view, a new balcony on George Aziz Avenue offers an excellent vantage point of the waterfall.

Kanaan Mansion

The historical mansion, built in 1892 by Suleiman Bey Kannan, a Lebanese nationalist known for freeing the inhabitants of the Jezzine region from the feudal landlords of that time. The mansion’s unique architecture, featuring distinct arcades, makes it a treasured landmark.

Karam Winery

Nestled within the captivating natural splendor of South Lebanon, Karam Winery unfolds as a tale of dedication, and enduring heritage. The unwavering commitment of two siblings has breathed renewed vitality into the ancestral vineyards of the Karam lineage. This resurgence has resulted in a range of wines that eloquently mirror the tender cultivation of vines.

The Karam family tradition involves passionate debates followed by wine experimentation. This dynamic environment inspired them to cultivate unusual grape varieties, resulting in the “Les Raretés” collection, which includes Albarino, Touriga Nacional, Saperavi, and the indigenous Meksassi grape from Lebanon’s Jezzine area. These wines represent a global journey from the dinner table. Their vineyards, located at high altitudes with Mediterranean views, offer acidity, freshness, and minerality unique to Jezzine. Each grape thrives in its ideal terroir, vinified separately to showcase its true character. Karam wines have received 55 awards, reflecting their exceptional quality.

 Municipal Palace

In Jezzine’s main square, you’ll find the historical serail, which now serves as the Municipal Palace. Dating back to 1898, this striking building showcases exquisite traditional Ottoman design. The grand pillars that, exquisite arches and the ornamental top of the building communicate a distinct sense of strength, permanence and endurance.

The Lady of Maabour

Crafted with utmost precision by Youssef Ghossoub, the Statue of the Virgin Mary graces the western entrance of Jezzine, commanding a view over Bkassine, Wadi Jezzine, the Bkassine Pine Forest and Jezzine waterfall. This artistic representation has evolved into a pivotal religious symbol within a region enveloped by lush greenery. Clasped in her hand is the key to the town of Jezzine. The location provides a picturesque vantage point, ideal for capturing sweeping panoramic photographs.
