(30,000 LL per person) DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT: ====================== Lebanon is among the oldest sites of wine production in the world. The Phoenicians of its coastal strip were instrumental in spreading wine and viticulture throughout the Mediterranean in ancient times. The Prophet Hosea (780–725 B.C.) is said to have urged his followers to return to Yahweh so that "they will blossom as the vine, and their fragrance will be like the wine of Lebanon". Our tour will start by a visit to CHATEUA MUSAR in Ghazir. The wines of Château Musar are unique expressions from a country with an ancient wine-making culture. The winery was established by Gaston Hochar in 1930. Created in the cellar of an old 17th century castle, Château Musar is the work of a family. The winery was the first in Lebanon to implement organically certified viticulture. We will visit the caves, learn about wine making from experienced enologist and get to taste the various products. The next stop will be in BZOUMMAR Monastery. There at the winery, will taste wine and visit the museum of the Armenian Catholic Clergy Institute established in 1749 and which contains one of the great Armenian manuscript collections in the world, as well as significant holdings of Arabic manuscripts. The last stop will be in Faqra, where will visit Winery MASSAYA. Massaya, whose name is Arabic, for the delicate beauty of the Bekaa’s twilight, with its French and Lebanese partners. It was for Anis “Arak” in 1994. In 1998, it became for the wine and “Arak’. There are underground caves carved in the rocks that keep the wine in ideal conditions. We will visit it, learn about wine making and get to taste its exquisite wine. At the end we will have lunch in a restaurant in a very special place at Faqra.
